YOGA FOR OVERALL HEALTH AND WELLNESS with Aras Baskauskas
ABOUT DVD:
Aras Baskauskas stresses that contrary to popular belief, yoga is much more than just bending and twisting the body into pretzel-like forms. It is a practice that promotes overall health and helps us to generate compassion, awareness and equanimity.
The focus of Aras' routine is on the more down-to-earth benefits of yoga, including:
- Improved physical fitness
- Mental clarity
- Stress control
- General well being
BONUS FEATURE:
Aras demonstrates 10 minutes of power yoga exercises for the days when you need a good workout in a short period of time. This quick and efficient segment is excellent for strengthening the entire body with maximum results.
ABOUT ARAS:
Aras Baskauskas, pronounced (bush-cow-kiss), is best known as the winner of CBS's Survivor: Exile Island. While on the hit reality series, America became fascinated with this handsome yogi and his love of the ancient practice of yoga.
Baskauskas admits he hated yoga when he first tried it because he couldn't touch his toes. However, at this point in his life he was open to an even bigger challenge - acceptance of self. Aras learned, "To get the most out of yoga wasn't about flexibility, it was about working at your honest reality - only through that presence you can grow. But you can't grow unless you are honest with where you are. Accepting your limitations and working within those places on yourself is how Aras says he learned the tools to deal with life's ups and downs."
Equally athletic and intelligent, Aras received a scholarship to UC Irvine captaining the University Division 1 Men's Basketball Team, while receiving his MBA at the prestigious Paul Merage School of Business.
Aras studied Warrior Yoga under the mentorship of Nzazi Malonga in the past and is currently continuing his yoga education in Hatha yoga as well as Zen yoga under the tutelage of George Falcon and Don Rossmore. He instructs classes regularly in Santa Monica, California and teaches a yoga potluck once a month that is free to the public.
